This impressive 72.5-meter-tall tower, crafted from red sandstone, is adorned with intricate carvings and verses from the sacred Quran. Next, we visit the India Gate, a moving tribute to the Indian soldiers who lost their lives in the Afghan war, and take in the grandeur of the government buildings, including the President’s House and Parliament House, remnants of the British Raj era. We then pay our respects at Raj Ghat, a simple yet poignant black marble platform marking the site of Mahatma Gandhi’s cremation on January 31, 1948, and explore two nearby museums dedicated to his life and legacy. Our day concludes with an evening at the hotel, following a visit to the serene Lotus Temple.

It’s a wealth of white marble and semi-precious stone – « undoubtedly the highlight of the tour ».

Later we visit Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site this powerful fortress of red sandstone encompasses, within its 2.5-km-long enclosure walls, the imperial city of the Mughal rulers. En route visit Chand Baori a stepwell built over a thousand years ago in the Abhaneri village of Rajasthan; it is one of the largest stepwells in the world and also one of the most beautiful ones. Located in the eastern part of the province of Rajasthan, it was built by King Chanda somewhere in the 9th century.
